Stay Alert: Satan Targets God's First Blessings

The first and most precious gift God gave to Adam was Eve, his beloved wife...

Adam and Eve in Eden

Adam: God's Firstborn Targeted

The first and most precious gift that God gave to Adam was Eve, Adam's beloved wife
(Genesis 2:22-23). What a beautiful gift of companionship and love! Halleluah! Amen!

But sadly, Satan used that very gift to begin his attack on God's divine plan. Genesis 3:6-7 tells us that Eve, deceived by the serpent, took the forbidden fruit and gave it to Adam. Their eyes were opened, and sin entered the world.

Cain and Abel

Cain: Adam's Firstborn Targeted

Remember Adam’s firstborn was Cain. And what happened? He turned out to be the first murderer
(Genesis 4:8-9). Once again, Satan targeted the first—destroying what was meant to be a blessing. Cain killed his brother Abel out of jealousy. This shows us that the enemy often corrupts the first with pride, anger, or deception.

Peter and Jesus

Peter: First Among the Disciples Targeted

Among the twelve disciples, Peter was first in the list according to Jesus’ appointed order
(Matthew 10:2). But look how he was targeted:

  • First to speak impulsively
  • First to react without context
  • First to be rebuked by Jesus
  • First to defend Jesus violently
  • First to deny Jesus three times

When Jesus said, "Get behind me, Satan!" He wasn’t calling Peter Satan but rebuking
the spirit influencing him. That’s how subtle and dangerous these attacks can be. (Matthew 16:23).

Family and Gifts

What Is Your First Gift From God?

Ask yourself: what was the first significant gift God gave you?

  • Was it your job?
  • Your first car?
  • Your wife or husband?
  • Your first home or ministry?

Whatever it is—be careful. Just as Satan attacked Adam's first gift,
he may try to attack yours. Be Careful and Guard it with wisdom and prayer.

Firstborn child

Firstborns: Be Alert and Be Guided

There is one special first gift that comes only after marriage: the firstborn.

As seen with Cain, Satan has a strategy of targeting firstborns. They often face the weight of expectations and spiritual attacks. That’s why they need covering, prayer, and guidance more than ever.

Final Thoughts

Just like what happened to Adam, the same pattern can occur in our lives.
But we are not called to live in fear—we are called to live as overcomers in Christ.

1 John 5:4-5 says: "Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God."

Let us be wise and vigilant. Cover your firsts—your first gifts, your firstborns, your first blessings
with prayer and the Word. Let us walk in victory through Jesus Christ. Amen and Amen!

May God bless you all.
