REJOICING IN THE WORD (Ps:119:162)
I rejoiced at your Word as
one who finds great treasure.
Here God’s Word is like a
great treasure to the psalmist.
For David, It’s more than pure
gold & sweeter than the honeycomb.
(Ps:19:10). Such experience is
very uncommon & unfamiliar to many Christians.
For many Christians God’s Word is like a Text
But for few It’s like a Treasure.
For
many it’s a Book but for few It’s a Banquet.
For some it’s a Religious Book but for few It’s a Book of reality.
Many are Bored by it; Yet there are few who Rejoice in it.
And here the psalmist is one
among those few who Rejoice in the Word.
How can I Rejoice in the Word?
How & when can I see The
Word as a great treasure?
Very simple answers for
these simplest questions are found
in a familiar portion of the Bible that is
(Ps:19:8).
The
statutes (God’s Word) of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The
commandment (God’s Word) of the Lord is pure,
enlightening
the eyes.
Here David says God’s
Word is right! Which means Real, Truth,
Some thing which I can trust, Rely on
or Cling to.
It’s not a dead book
for him but a Dear one or A Book of Delight.
Every word, every
commandment, every promise is real.
Real for me, really
works for me and in me. That’s what he believed.
He was not looking the
written Word but The living Word because he considered
it as real and that is
what made him to rejoice in the Word.
He could see the Word
as treasure because the commandment of God teaches obedience and obedience brings
purity and purity brings light to the eyes to see the word as treasure. David
had such wonderful experience. Come let’s too enjoy this privilege
by believing
& obeying the Word Which is right for us.
